The New York Museum of Transportation is unique among Western New York's museums. In Rush, just 20 minutes from Rochester, the museum features vintage trolley cars, highway and horse-drawn vehicles, a steam locomotive, several model railroads, photos, exhibits, gallery, and gift shop. Relive holiday memories with the Midtown Plaza Monorail on display! Rides are included with admission on the only electric trolley line in New York State. No reservations needed except for certain special events. Open Sundays only.

The New York Museum of Transportation has been delighting families, train enthusiasts and history buffs since 1973.  Train rides are offered in the summer months and selected winter dates on 90-year-old trolley cars.  The only trolley ride in New York State recreates the "interurban era" of a century ago when trolleys traveled cross-country.  The ride through open fields and forest is scenic and unique.  The hands-on museum itself contains historic trolley cars, a steam locomotive, fire engine, huge model railroad, numerous exhibits, a gallery, and gift shop.  A special feature is the Midtown Plaza Monorail on display.

We are a great venue for birthdays and other family or group events.  We provide an authentic trolley car indoors seating 36 for your party.

The museum is located at 6393 East River Road in the Town of Rush, about 20 minutes south of Rochester and easily reached from Exit 11 on I-390 (take 251 West to the flashing red light, turn right and go a mile to our driveway).  Admission is $10 adults, $9 seniors (age 65 and older), $6 youths (age 3 - 12).  Under age 3 are free.  Check us out at www.nymtmuseum.org.  Contact info@nymtmuseum.org or call (585) 533-1113.
