Genesee Country Village & Nature Center
Genesee Country Village and Nature Center is located about a half-hour to Rochester's southwest in Mumford. The Village features 59 restored houses, businesses, and places of worship from the 19th century. A stroll through the village (especially on one of their event days such as Laura Ingalls Wilder Days, War of 1812 Encampment, and Civil War Reenactment) brings parents and kids alike back to the 1800s. The GCV's Silver Base Ball Park is the only place where you're likely to hear "Fine hurl, sir!" meant as a polite compliment. The GCVM also features a nature center.
Explore & More Children’s Museum
The fun increases sevenfold as Explore & More Children’s Museum moves from their 6,000 sq. ft. museum in East Aurora to their new 43,000 sq. ft. museum with four floors of fun and educational hands-on play. The original location closes to the public March 23rd, then after a brief gap between locations, the all-new Explore & More - The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum opens this Spring at Canalside at the heart of the city's waterfront.
Explore & More remains committed to providing an environment for creative play and learning through hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs that inspire creativity, curiosity and imagination.
Through seven educational play zones, this community-focused museum is FOR and ABOUT Buffalo, paying homage to the very attributes that make us so proud to be from Western New York. The new museum’s exhibits highlight the region’s waterways, cultures, architecture, agriculture, sports, industry and innovations, sparking the imagination and unlocking the unlimited potential of our next generation of great minds.
