School is out for the day, and Strawberries are at their peak ripeness! Head out to Stokoe Farms for a morning with your kiddos where our homestead educator Amy will teach you and your family how to make the perfect Strawberry Jam, a skill that will last a lifetime.
Have you tried your hand at jam-making, only for it to turn out runny or moldy? At our Homestead Series Jam-making class you and your kiddos will learn how to identify which strawberries are best to use for jams, and the difference between jams, jellies, and preserves. Learn with hands-on demonstrations for the basics of the water bath canning processes, which can be used with multiple seasonal fruits.
Making your own jam at home means no additional additives or preservatives, made from nature at the perfect time. Canning your own jams is less expensive and better for you! At the conclusion of the class you will proudly take home a jar of jam that you helped to make!
This class is intended for kiddos ages 8 and up with their favorite adult.
Class Includes:
-2 jars of Strawberry Jam to take home
-Laminated recipe sheets to take home
-Delicious strawberry biscuit with jam snack
-A cold glass of strawberry lemonade
-Time to play on Stokoe Farms' popular Bounce Pillows and Low Ropes Course 12 pm to 1 pm.
So join us for a perfect day in the country with your family!
