Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge is a network of lands set aside for the benefit of native wildlife and plants. The refuge protects habitat mainly for migratory birds, but also other benefitting wildlife and people. Located between Rochester and Buffalo, Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) has been described as one of the best kept secrets of Western New York. The Refuge lands are open from sunrise to sunset. Stop by the Visitor Center (Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00am-4:00pm, subject to change based on staff availability) to explore our exhibits and find helpful information including maps, brochures, birding checklists and restrooms. Binoculars and bird guides are available for loan, free of charge.
