"History Camp for Kids" takes place at the Hull Family Home & Farmstead at 5976 Genesee Street in Lancaster, NY. The five-day camp runs from 9AM to 4PM. Adults and volunteers provide a 5:1 ratio of supervision.
Each day has a theme: on Monday, campers learn about the historic Hull House and the family who lived there; Tuesday is Textiles day, when contrasts are made between fabrics and their sources then and now; Wednesday's focus is the indigeneous peoples who influenced the white settlers in those colonial days; Thursday finds campers digging with UB's Department of Anthropology and Archaeology; and Friday is Foodways Day when campers help prepare a meal for the group. There are many ancillary activities throughout each day, with time always reserved for period games.
Cost per camper for the week is $300. Contact Suzanne Jacobs at 716-681-5494 or email sjacobs@hullfamilyhome.org for further information or to request an application.
