Artist Nancy Macko examines the plight of bees as their populations continue to decline year over year. Macko looks closely at the world of bees, not only to examine their biology and somatic features, but also to study their habitat and highly organized society.
Macko’s photography captures bees among native plants in California, but the declining bee population is being tracked worldwide. The BMS presents the importance of native plants, highlighting its work with invasive species at Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo.
The Fragile Bee is one of three special traveling exhibits on view this fall along with FIND WHY: Vanishing Rhino and SNOW: Tiny Crystals, Global Impact.
The exhibition organized through Katharine T. Carter & Associates.
