All writers and artists need books to fill with their creations. And sometimes the book, itself, can be an artform. In this workshop, we will explore several unique book constructions, including an Altered Book, an Accordion Book, a Box Book, Exquisite Corpse Book, and a Pocket Book. We’ll learn new techniques, gain new skills, use special materials and beautiful papers for the covers, then draw and write in our new books. We'll create five new books during this week. Program fee includes all materials.
Note regarding materials:
• Materials will be available for curbside pick-up at Writers & Books Saturday August 1 and Saturday August 8, 10 am-12 pm.
• For anyone who lives outside of the greater Rochester area, or who does not have transportation to pick up materials, registration must be received by Thursday July 30 to allow enough time to ship materials to participants.
• Students will need to have the following materials, which will not be included in the materials package: scissors, pencils, coloring materials (i.e. colored pencils, markers, crayons). If you need help obtaining these materials please contact firstname.lastname@example.org immediately upon registration.
• Optional materials (found objects, not to be purchased, for additional use in decorating books): magazines (to be cut up), stencils, stickers, feathers, sequins, old jewelry, any unique object you can affix to your books!
