Whisk Broom Making Workshop at Genesee Country Village & Museum offers participants the opportunity to learn a traditional 19th-century craft.
During the winter months, many farm families supplemented their income through cottage industries, creating goods that could be sold throughout the year. Broom making was one such skill. In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the history of broom making while learning the techniques used to craft a hand-stitched whisk broom.
Guided by Museum educators, guests will take part in each step of the process and leave with a completed whisk broom of their own.
Space is limited, and advance registration is required. The workshop will take place at the MacArthur House.
