Our playful young penguins are turning one!
Join us as we celebrate the first penguin chicks to hatch at the Aquarium since 2006. Smitty and Jules have won the hearts of many visitors with their curiosity and engagement. If you’ve played with a penguin lately, it was probably with them. This weekend will focus on our Humboldt penguin colony.

Throughout the weekend, we will be broadcasting never-before-seen videos of Smitty and Jules, virtual penguin encounters, and lots of penguin swag!
Pickup a pinwheel to play with Smitty and Jules through the glass. Observe educator demonstrations and interact with penguin biofacts like feathers and eggs.
Visit our gift shop to score a commemorative Smitty and Jules plush, purchase a penguin-shaped chocolate sucker, and sport one our limited-edition penguin chick t-shirts.
A portion of the proceeds from sales will go to the Humboldt penguin protection efforts of the Punta San Juan Program.
Please note: There is no hands on interaction between guests and penguins.
