Looking for a new way to have fun outdoors? Learn orienteering, a great outdoor activity for all ages! Brush up on your map skills while hiking through our beautiful WNY parks. Orienteering is a sport in which a map is used to navigate a course; it can be done solo but is also a great family activity!
The Buffalo Orienteering Club is holding a combined "Learn & Practice" and regular orienteering event at Emery Park on Sunday, May 18th at 10:00 AM. During the Learn & Practice session, instruction will be followed by the opportunity to try out a short practice course. The regular event begins at 11:00 AM, with three course levels to choose from. Cost is $10 for non-club members, $5 for juniors (age 20 & under), and free for children (age 11 & under). Pre-registration is strongly recommended and will guarantee you a place in both sessions; be sure to indicate on the “additional selections” page if you would like to participate in the Learn & Practice session. Pre-registration ends Thursday, May 15. This is a great opportunity to learn how to read a topographic map, learn basic compass skills, and navigate a beginner orienteering course. We hope to see you there!
