*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 01/07/2017
Live via satellite in high definition from NYC's Metropolitan Opera! Based on Biblical stories from the Book of Jeremiah and the Book of Daniel, Nabucco follows the plight of the Jews as they are assaulted, conquered and subsequently exiled from their homeland by the Babylonian King Nabucco. The legendary Placido Domingo brings another new baritone role to the Met under the baton of his longtime collaborator James Levine in Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco.

Liudmyla Monastyrska is Abigaille, the warrior woman determined to rule empires; and Jamie Barton is the heroic Fenena. Dmitri Belosselskiy is the stentorian voice of the oppressed Hebrew people. The best-known work from the opera is the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, "Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate" ("Fly, thought, on golden wings"), a chorus which is regularly given an encore in many opera houses when performed today.
The production runs three hours, five minutes with one intermission.
