The War for Independence ignited on April 19, 1775, with the battles of Lexington and Concord. As we approach the 250th anniversary of this pivotal moment in history, Old Fort Niagara presents Fort Niagara in the American Revolution, a special program exploring the Fort’s role during the conflict.
The experience begins with a compelling multimedia presentation in the Visitor Center theater, setting the stage for Fort Niagara’s unique position in the war. Guests will then embark on a guided tour of the Fort, delving into its strategic significance, key events, and the lives of those who served there. The program concludes with a firsthand encounter with a soldier of the 8th Regiment of Foot, the British unit that held Fort Niagara throughout the war.
