Dance Theatre of Harlem's Lecture/Demonstration, presented by Shea's Performing Arts Center, is a fun and accessible introduction to ballet for students of all ages. Specific exercises that develop jumping, turning, partnering, lifting, and dancing on pointe are demonstrated and explained. An audience participation segment in which members of the audience are invited to the stage to try some of the movements, or test the similarities between social dance and ballet, is included. Throughout, excerpts from Dance Theatre of Harlem's eclectic repertoire demonstrate how the elements that have been discussed come together to create the magic of dance.
Tickets are only $7.00. For tickets or more information, visit sheas.org or contact Holly Grant at hgrant@sheas.org or 716-829-1171.
