Cookies and Conversation Virtual Open House

As a parent, you are always looking to do what is right, what is best for your child. You go to bed at night praying that you chose the right child-care, the right winter coat, the right school. Some days are easier than others, and then the unthinkable hits, a pandemic strikes our community and we are ordered to do something no one would ever dream of; we are ordered to STOP. Stop shopping, stop dining out, stop large scale celebrations, stop traveling, just STOP.

      But what will happen when we STOP? What can happen when we STOP? We breathe, we think, we become creative. That is exactly what the teachers and staff at Notre Dame Academy did, and they did it for the love of teaching and for the love of their students.

     Our teachers did STOP. They breathed. They thought. They became even more creative. They embraced long-distance learning. They started Zoom Meeting Teaching. They got in their cars for a parade to safely see and put a smile on the face of their students. They continue to use Google Classroom, emails, and Apps. They continue to help families keep a routine. They continue to calm their student's worries and listen to their needs and the needs of their families.

     The Coronavirus forced schools to close, but our hearts and minds are open at Notre Dame Academy! Academically our students are on schedule, they are not losing any educational time. That time just looks different. Instead of a desk in a classroom, our students are at the kitchen table or a desk in the bedroom or sitting on pillows in a hallway. Just as there are many ways to learn, so too there are many PLACES and situations in which to learn. Notre Dame Academy is committed to our students and their families!
