Canalside for Kids Free Walking Tour

Join us for our Explore Buffalo Canalside for Kids Walking Tour! This age-adjusted tour takes kids and their families through Canalside and end with a ride on the Buffalo Heritage Carousel!
Canalside for Kids with the Buffalo Heritage Carousel is a 60-75 minute walking tour for parents and children which includes the monument park, a stroll through the naval park, a view of the long shed and other areas along Canalside. This tour is stroller friendly as well as 100% handicapped accessible. The tour is FREE during the 2024 tour season thanks to the sponsorship of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. It is a kids and family-focused tour, geared towards children aged 5 to 10. All guests must be registered and parents are required to be with their children. Space is limited to 15 guests.

This tour meets at the African American Veterans Monument, at the corner of Erie Street and Marine Drive (use 236 Erie Street, Buffalo NY 14202 in Google Maps). The African American Veterans Monument is next to the 100-foot tall Rotary Flagpole. Street parking is available along Erie Street.
Adults without children will not be accepted for this tour, and are encouraged to join us on our public tour of Canalside.
Tour Procedures & Policies:
- Reservations are required for all tours, including for Explorer Pass members. Walk-ups without reservations cannot be accommodated. Tours are generally limited to a maximum of 15 people per group.
- Reservations close two hours before the tour's scheduled start time (for example, reservations close at 8am for a 10am tour).
- Reservations can be made online; please email explore@explorebuffalo.org or call (716) 245-3032 if you need assistance.
- If you have an Explore Buffalo walking pass (orange or blue), please email explore@explorebuffalo.org to reserve your tour.
- The Explore Buffalo docent for your tour will have a list of tour reservations for their tour; you do not need to print or bring any tour confirmation.
- Accessibility: This tour is stroller friendly as well as 100% handicapped accessible. Please contact us at explore@explorebuffalo.org or (716) 245-3032 if you plan to attend this tour and will require accommodations or if you have questions about accessibility.
- If you feel ill or suspect you may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not attend any Explore Buffalo tours. We will be happy to refund your reservation or welcome you to join us at a later date.
