Big Apple Crunch
*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 10/10/2024
Did you know that New York produces about 30 million bushels of apples annually? In fact, if the state of New York were a country, its yearly harvest would rank just outside the top 20 globally. To celebrate this bounty, every year FarmOn! partners with local growers in New York’s apple belt for the Big Apple Crunch. The Big Apple Crunch is straightforward. Each year, participants from across the state are invited to take a bite out of an apple grown in New York. The program began in 2012 as a partnership between nonprofit group GrowNYC and the NYC Office of Food Policy, and has only grown from there. Hundreds of thousands of students at schools and college campuses statewide now join in every year. Last year, we saw over 2.3 million New Yorkers participate!
