Summer Art Camp: Fresh Perspective Portraits

Have you ever thought of a house as a portrait? How about the portrait of an everyday house plant? Young artists will step deeply into their imagination as they get to know the intimacy of objects, the beauty of a historic Auburn home, and the majestic patterns of the bark and branches of the Cayuga Museum’s famous gingko tree, which grows next door to the Schweinfurth. Warming up with drawing from life in pencil, pen and charcoal and moving into a variety of pastel and paint mediums like watercolor, acrylic, gouache and water based oils, students will create drawn, painted and mixed media collage portraits of the everyday, making it extraordinary.
Art Camps will be held in person in our spacious studio spaces. Students will be required to wear face masks and maintain social distance.
When: Aug. 2-6, 1-4pm
