Week Nine - August 19-23: Specialty Camps

Junior Engineering For Kids/ Soccer Shots!: Grades: K-3

In partnership with: Engineering For Kids and Soccer Shots Buffalo At Engineering for Kids, the children will be using the Engineering Design Process to develop, build, test, and redesign a new project each day! The children will be exposed to various types of Engineering concepts such as: Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, and Robotics during one part of the day and will participate in Soccer Shots, which is WNY’s largest introduction to sport program and also the official introductory program of US Youth Soccer! 5-7 year olds will work on individual skills and team play in small sided games, while also working on character/listening/social development using our nationally recognized curriculum!

Multi Sport Camp: Grades: K-3 & 4-9

For campers who enjoy a wide variety of sports, Centerland’s Multi Sport Camp is a dream come true! Basketball, volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse headline the roster of sports offered at Multi-Sport Camp. Through spirited play and friendly competition, campers experience the thrill of sports and team play.

S’more Swimming Camp: Grades: K-3

Summertime is the time to get wet and have fun. Swim camp is run by our Camp Centerland Aquatics Director and staff. Experience wet ball, springboard diving and other fun filled aquatics activities. Campers will be wet a good part of the day. We would recommend they bring in more than one suit.

Chess Wizards Summer Camp: Grades: 1-7

In partnership with: Chess Wizards Inc. Join us this summer for tons of challenging chess lessons, exciting games, and cool prizes. You’ll improve your chess skills, meet new friends, and work out your most powerful muscle - your brain! Our camps include fun team chess games (like bughouse), recess time (of course), snacks, tournaments, and puzzles. Each camper receives a Chess Wizards T-shirt, trophy, and puzzle folder. Unleash your brain power and spend part of your vacation with Chess Wizards!

Apprentice Engineering For Kids Camp: 3-6

In partnership with: Engineering For Kids At Engineering for Kids, the children will be using the Engineering Design Process to develop, build, test, and redesign a new project each day! The children will be exposed to various types of Engineering concepts such as: Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, and Robotics during one part of the day and virtually build various structures using Minecraft EDU during the other half of the day.

Week of Wild: 3-6

In partnership with: Buffalo Animal Adventures Come join us as we take an adventure around the world meeting some of the rarest animals on the planet! Highly trained and learned Wildlife Educators bring a sampling of our cast of creatures to Camp to meet you in a safe and comfortable setting.

Centerland’s Children’s Theater Camp: Grades: 4-9

Theater will allow your camper to express themselves through skill sessions including improvisation and reading from a script. Outside in the Rein Family Amphitheater, your campers will work all week for a Friday performance for friends and family.

The Greatest Camp on Earth: Grades: 4-9

In partnership with: The Birds Nest Circus Arts Come one, come all, to the “Greatest Camp on Earth:” an unforgettable week of play-based learning with The Birds Nest Circus Arts. Campers will build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, as well as learn the value of personal uniqueness, creative self-expression, consent, and teamwork through circus arts workshops and noncompetitive group activities. Specific skills to be taught by our trained staff include acrobatic tumbling, human pyramids, stretching, aerial arts, object manipulation (hula hoop, poi, juggling), and clowning/physical theatre. All levels of ability will be welcomed and celebrated.

Adventure and Explore Camp: Grades: 5-9

Explore our 19 acres of camp while building our outdoor skills. Pitching tents, making a fire, orienteering, and fishing will be built in throughout the week of camp. Learn what it takes to live in the outdoors.

Exploring the Nature of the Arts Around You: 5-9

In partnership with: Young Audiences of Western New York Campers will experience “Nature through the Arts” by being immersed in the arts, including glass and pottery making, dance & movement, such as Hip-Hop and Bollywood dance, music and more, all while being inspired by their surroundings. This unique opportunity will allow the campers to both experience original artwork and explore the inspiration nature has to offer.
