Civil War Garrison at Old Fort Niagara

This living history event explores life at Fort Niagara between 1861-1865. Sponsored by Old Fort Niagara and the reenactors from the 49th New York Volunteer Infantry, the weekend will provide a look into the life of a Union Army garrison at Fort Niagara during the American Civil War. Although, as the event is depicting “garrison life” there will be no “battle demonstration” typical of many reenactments, however, the event will include many various, ongoing, socially-distanced demonstrations, including: weapons demonstrations and company drill, 19th century engineering, cooking, medicine, military music, common soldier life, officer life, women with the army.
