Virtual learning has been a challenge for many kids and Summer Links to Learning is here to help them catch-up and practice skills that they will need to get back into the classroom in September.

Summer Links to Learning programs are for learners ages 5 and up and are specially designed & led by pediatric occupational & physical therapists (OTs & PTs).  The programs run weekly Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a new & exciting topic every week:

Location: Villa Maria College, 240 Pine Ridge Rd, Buffalo, NY 14225
Cost: $325 per 4 day program ($50 non-refundable deposit due to hold spot)

Bike Riding 101:  July 12-15

No matter where children are in their journey to mastering riding a bike, we would love to help! In a low-pressure, small group setting, we will provide a fun and encouraging environment to learn this life-long skill. Activities will be centered upon improving independence with the skills necessary for riding a bike including use of a balance bike.

Kids are welcome & encouraged to bring their own bike and helmet and a Physical or Occupational Therapist will help make sure everything is properly adjusted to fit!

Kinesthetic Learners - July 19-22

Moving makes learning fun!  Academic skills like reading, writing, and number/letter identification are incorporated into exercises, games, and multi-sensory activities that challenge kids’ bodies & their minds.

This week is specially designed for kids who need to get up & move in order to learn!   We want our learners to be running, jumping, rolling, and playing while they are practicing their academic skills in a way that challenges their whole body.

Crafty Creators - July 26-29

We are looking for budding engineers, architects, builders, scientists, and crafters to join us this week to hone their skills through STEAM activities using some unexpected materials.

Learners should bring their creativity & curiosity this week when we work together to examine how things work and craft, plan, & build our way out of some sticky situations.

Fit4Fun Health & Wellness - August 9-12

Fitness and wellness can be FUN! Physical activity is a cornerstone in helping your child maintain a strong, healthy body and can even improve overall physical and emotional well-being. This week will provide your child fun and interesting activities centered around physical fitness, challenging the cardiovascular and muscular systems. We can help your child express their energy and experience the ‘feel good’ chemicals that comes along with exercise.

Mindful Movers - August 16-19

This week is for kids who seem to be traveling at light speed!  Our learners this week will learn about their own sensory systems to better understand how their brains control their bodies and what they can do to help slow their engines down.

There are decades worth of research promoting the use of mindfulness-centered activities in improving cognitive function and decreasing stress & anxiety.   These skills are necessary, not only for success in the classroom, but also to help enjoy learning and manage unpredictable changes in routines.
