On Saturday, September 12th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Niagara History Center, 215 Niagara Street in Lockport, is hosting a day of family activities to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Families are invited to come to the History Center anytime during those hours to learn and experience 250 years of Niagara County history through “meeting” famous people, trying their hand at various bygone activities and making crafts from different periods of time. Children will also receive a small token at each of the stops. Activity stations will be set-up on the grounds and in the buildings of the Niagara History Center campus where families can explore Native American culture, pioneer life, the Civil War, regional industries that made a national impact, local civil and women’s right leaders, and Niagara Falls tourism and its hydroelectric power industry. It will take about an hour to complete all activities. This event is free and open to the public but is recommended for families with children ages 5 and up.
