How many babies do groundhogs have?

Did you know that "woodchuck" is another name for groundhog?

Woodchucks have one litter of babies every spring. Litter size can range from 2-9 babies, but most litters average 3-5 babies.

Baby woodchucks are sometimes called cubs. They are pink and hairless when born, and only about 4½" long. By their second week of life, hair begins to grow and the babies will begin crawling by their third week. After four weeks, the babies' eyes are open. At five weeks, the babies are fully active. By their sixth week, they will beginning weaning from their mother's milk and start eating grasses. The young woodchucks leave their mother between 8 and 12 weeks after they are born.
