Canal Day in the Village

Join Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, Buffalo Maritime Center, and Arts for Learning on Saturday, August 20th, for our Canal Day in the Village! Canal Day is a fun, educational day in our village as visitors will experience a wide range of canal culture, activities, and games. Explore the history of the Erie Canal, which transformed not only our WNY region, but changed America forever.

• Visitors are welcome to explore BNHV’s 10 historic structures, Heritage Farmstead, and indoor exhibits
• Guided tours of the Historic Village will be offered throughout the day
• Skilled artisans will demonstrate blacksmithing, cooking, cross stitching, and more
• Demonstrations and workshops from Arts for Learning
• Dr. John Montague, President Emeritus, of Buffalo Maritime Center will be discussing Building the Erie Canal Boat, Seneca Chief
• As part of BNHV's ongoing commitment to providing accessible educational programming, children will receive free admission
Please note: pets, including but not limited to dogs, are not permitted. Service animals are permitted.
