Annual WNY Earth Science Day

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 10/07/2017
Penn Dixie’s annual — and biggest — FREE program is back on Saturday October 7 from 9 am to 4 pm! Learn about our home, Earth, in an outdoors and family-friendly setting.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Watch earth scientists as they exhibit and demonstrate various aspects of the profession. View drill rigs and watch a demonstration on rock coring and drilling operations. Sunspots and solar flares will also be visible through our telescopes along with fossil collecting and a variety of other activities.

Earth Science Day is FREE to the public and will run rain or shine. In honor of our 20th Earth Science Day, our fossil collecting is also FREE thanks to our event sponsors.

Stick around in the evening for our astronomy program and you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of three planets plus a look at distant objects such as the open star cluster NGC 869-84 in Perseus. Astronomy begins at 6 pm and is $4/person or FREE for members.
