Readers RespondLocalI think you can just deliver letters to Santa at the post office (at least the Fairport one usually has a special gingerbread house to leave them in) and your child will get a reply. Also, Lu's Consignment shop in Fairport (Jefferson Rd.) was taking letters too. I work at the Post Office in Rochester. Any letters that come in addressed to Santa are answered by some of our Postal Elves. I believe that they also pick some out to give gifts to. I am sure that Post Offices in other areas would do the same. I'm not sure where your reader lives but if she lives in Penfield the rec dept. does a great job with letters to Santa. Last year my son and daughter sent letters and got really nice, personalized letters back. They loved them. The address is: Santa Claus, c/o Penfield Recreation, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield, NY 14526. I live in Fairport and was told by my postal carrier that my children could write a letter to Santa and just leave it in the mailbox for her and they would get a response from Santa for free. I think the postal service will do this anywhere. Hope this helps! OnlineInfo regarding letters to Santa is available on the USPS website: http://www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/localnews/in/in_2007_1120a.htm. The child writes the letter to santa. You, as the parent, write the reply letter and place it in an addressed envelope, and it comes back postmarked from Santa Claus, IN. Need to have this to them by December 20. I found a very nice personalized, hand written Santa letter which also mentions activities the child is involved in throughout the year and the name of the child's friend. This one looks like the VERY real thing! It also follows up with a post card in January that lets the kids know that Santa will be watching and to have a great year! This one is pretty cool! Of course, you get what you pay for, and this one is for $9.95 which includes everything I mentioned. The site for this one is www.greetingsfromsanta.com. www.santa-at-home.com: The nice thing about this site is all of the other links on it, such as Santa's Activity Page, Santa's Craft Page, Mrs. Claus's Recipes etc. Here are some that respond electronically: http://www.northpole.com/Mailroom/ and http://www.emailsanta.com.
