Winter Break Art Day School. Kids ages 7–13 can spend February break cartooning, making puppets, creating from polymer clay--and more. Each day is taught by a different teacher and explores a different medium. Sign up by the day or stay all week. $60 per day (members $50); $250 for the whole week (members $225). The week of February 19th - 23rd, they will be open at 12pm everyday. Monday the 19th, they will be having a LOCK - IN that is sponsored by most of the skate and bike shops in the area. This is guaranteed to be a crazy night that nobody should miss. They are also doing a mini 3-day skate camp from the 21st - 23rd for $125. Call 218-4140 for more information. Frozen Ropes Baseball Camp, in East Rochester. Two days, for ages 7-12, February 19 and February 20.Morning Session: 9:30 am to 12 Noon, $65 Per Player. Seneca Park Zoo is offering five one-day camps for kids in grades 1 through 3. Monday: wild colors; Tuesday: Survival Skills; Wednesday: Behavioral Enrichment; Thursday: Watery World; Friday: African Safari. Camps can be attended either in the morning (9am-12pm) or all day (9am-4pm). Half-day: $25/members, $30 non-members. Full-day: $40/members, $45/non-members. Noted arts director Cara D'Emanuele is offering a one-week Musical Theatre Workshop for students in grades K-8. The program runs from 8 am to 5 pm daily at Seton Catholic School, 165 Rhinecliff in Brighton. However, students can be dropped off and picked up throughout the day. Tuition: $100 (family discounts available). Students will spend 5 days exploring American Musical Theatre through theatre games, scenes, songs, movement, discovery/activity stations, and more. Tops Cooking School has three-day winter break camps (click on the link and scroll to page 4). Camp 1 (Mon-Wed) is for kids ages 12-15 and Camp 2 is for kids ages 7-11. Camps go from 9am-1pm and the fee is $110. Call 663-5449 to register. RIT’S February Recess Skating Clinic: February Recess Ice Skating Clinic for children of RIT faculty/staff/students/alumi. Your child will learn a combination of free style moves, spins, jumps, and spirals and then put it all together by coordinating Basic 8 moves to music. Clinic will take place from 9:45am-10:45am, Monday through Friday. Each day will provide a new and different experience for your skater. This program is for Basic skills levels 1 – 8 and above. Session Fee (for faculty/staff/students/alumni): $45.00 for 5 days, $36.00 for 4 days, and $27.00 for 3 days. Rental Skates are free the first day of classes! Rockventures: Week-long rock climbing camps during December, February, and April breaks. Break camp is designed for ages 6-13. Camps are from 8 AM to 5 PM. Call (585) 442-5462 for more information or to sign up. Learn to ski at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort, for ages 8-17. There's Lincoln's Camp Sunday February 18-Tuesday February 20, and Washington's Camp, Wednesday February 21-Friday, February 23rd. Each camp is three days including lift ticket from 10 am to 3 pm with lunch. Participants may ski/ride on their own before 10 am or practice from 3-5 pm. Class sizes range from 8-10 students and participants are assigned based on skilll level and age. Bus transportation is available at extra charge for campers and non-campers. Bus departs from Pittsford Plaza at 8:30 am and leaves Bristol on the return trip @ 4:30 pm. Minimum age for bus transportation is 12. Supervision is available from 3-4:30 pm for camp enrolees and are riding the bus.
Swain ski resort also has camps for kids, February 19, 20, and 21. Children can spend their vacation time meeting new friends, enjoying the outdoors, having loads of fun while learning and improving their skiing/riding skills. The sessions are held each day from 10am to 3pm. A box lunch and hot chocolate breaks are provided each day. $138
The Rochester Chess Center is having a Winter Break Camp for kids age 5-13. All skill levels from beginner to advanced are encouraged to come. Beginners who arrive without any knowledge of the game will become proficient players from their camp experience; advanced players will benefit from sharing classes and experiences with some of the top youth players in the US. Rochester Museum & Science Center: RMSC invites families to take a tour back in time during the February school break to meet some of Rochester's early innovators, including Frederick Douglass, Edward Bausch, and George Eastman. Special activities from 11am to 4pm will include: Strong Museum: There is a new Exhibit Opening on 2/17--Secrets of Circles--and Strong Museum's Winter Break Week uses this as a focus, with circle art and activities, including a mandala.
Genesee Country Nature Center: Winter Recess Frolic: Celebrate the winter break with snow games, crafts, walks and snacks at the nature center. Learn about animal and plant winter survival through walks and talks. All are welcome at this indoor and outdoor activity-filled week. A small additional fee covers snacks and craft materials. Fee: Adults, $5/$2 GCV&M members; Seniors, $4.50/$1.50 GCV&M members; Youth, $4/$1 GCV&M members. No registration required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Snowshoe and ski rentals available for an additional fee. Pittsford Community Library: Puzzles and Board Games, Monday - Thursday: Come test your skill on one of our board games. Challenge a friend or play against someone new. We've got Connect Four, Sudoku, Chess, Candyland, and more. Puzzles will be out for the younger children to put together. Drop-in. No registration required. Storytale Room, 10am-2pm. Winter ActivitiesSeymour Library, Thursday, February 22, 2007 from 2 – 4 PM and chill out at our first ever Seymour WinterFest!! We’ll be making snowmen and forts, playing snow games, and sipping delicious hot cocoa. No snow? Don’t worry…we’ll take the fun INSIDE, making a terrific indoor fort! Don’t forget your mittens! Kids of all ages are welcome to attend—children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.
